Sedation Dentistry

Dental phobia is common among children and adults alike. Just the idea of hopping into the dental chair can raise one’s anxiety.

We want to change the way you feel about your dental visits. From a comfortable environment with pleasant amenities to compassionate care, your peace of mind is important to us. To further help, we offer sedation dentistry for a relaxing, pain and stress free visit. No needles, no worries, just proper care with your comfort in mind.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a treatment applied before or during a dental procedure to ease nerves and anxiety. Knowing it’s an option before a procedure can help quell fears leading to an appointment. During a dental treatment, sedation dentistry helps people relax and not worry about pain or dental phobia. We specialize in nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation, effective and safe practices administered without any needles or discomfort.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide might better be known as “laughing gas”. It’s a safe, quick-acting sedation method that ensures dental treatments are painless and anxiety-free. Nitrous is combined with oxygen through a breathing mask before and during treatment. Patients take on light numbing effects in just a short moment and remain fully conscious during their visit. After the procedure, normal breathing removes the effects within five minutes and patients can drive themselves home in the majority of cases.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Taken as a liquid or pill before a procedure, oral conscious sedation allows one to relax pain-free during their procedure. Patients remain fully conscious during their treatment and able to respond to commands. People with dental phobia might request oral sedation for basic treatments like dental fillings or crowns. It’s also used for more intensive procedures, such as wisdom teeth removal. A lingering drowsiness or slight amnesia of the procedure are common effects. It’s recommended to have a ride home afterwards if you plan on receiving oral sedation.
