Endodontics
Teeth are more than simply the visible enamel. Taking care of the tissues on the inside of teeth are essential to a healthy mouth. Bayshore Family Dental is here for comprehensive treatment of the entire tooth, inside and out.
What is Endodontics?
Endodontics is a field of dentistry focused on diagnosing, preventing, and treating disease in the inner dental pulp and tissue. Underneath the protective enamel and dentin of a tooth is the dental pulp. This area houses nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. It’s the system that keeps a tooth alive and healthy.
Endodontics therapy is used to treat deep tooth decay, tooth pain, tooth infection, and is sometimes necessary for cracked teeth where bacteria can enter the dental pulp. Without early treatment, the dental pulp can decay and may result in tooth loss that requires more costly procedures to repair, such as dental implants. We use modern digital x-ray imaging technology to assess the health of dental pulp and determine if endodontic treatment is right for you.
Root Canal Therapy
The most common endodontic treatment is root canal therapy. This procedure removes diseased dental pulp and restores the functionality of a tooth. Root canal therapy can be the difference between saving your natural tooth structure or suffering tooth loss or extraction.
